Creating: Safe Spaces
We have made social media such an integral part of our lives, so why not try to make it as healthy of an environment for yourself as possible?
Checking in with you this month as always making sure our mental health is at the forefront because these reminders can’t come often enough. I hope you’re able to make your social space a safe one to the best of your abilities, although I know sometimes that is out of our hands.
By safe, I mean following spaces and people that help you realize the person you are now has much to offer this world versus when you reach some sort of hierarchy. That sharing not only your highlight reels but your resiliency and not so good days can inspire more people than you think. That you don’t need a certain number of followers and likes to spark change in your community.
That it’s impossible to compare your successes with someone else’s on these apps and you don’t need validation outside of yourself to assure you’re on a beautiful path laid out just for you. Us logging on everyday and sharing so much of ourselves is truly our way of seeking human connection, so the more transparent conversations about mental health the better.
How are you honoring your unique mental health needs lately?
If you’re needing to do some major spring cleaning in your social space of anything not aligning with your highest self, please take that time to do so. I wanted to share some of the people and accounts I follow for constant reminders, uplifting words and validating affirmations. There are many communities made to foster love and inclusivity that you can be a part of.
P.S.
Also a reminder for all of us to have social media not be our only source for mental health guidance, media, and news. We deserve to seek help and education outside of these platforms too. Self care and community care are forever interconnected. So, I’d love to hear what people and accounts you follow to help you curate a social media environment that makes you feel better.
